Participant notes for our Munro by MTB courses.

Our riding levels explained:

 

Level 1 ride:

 

Our level 1 rides are ideal for the first time Munro ride if you are not sure if you will be fit enough or have the technical riding ability. They will be approximately 4-5 hours long but anyone with a reasonable level of fitness should be able to complete these rides. Technically, the riding will be on good open footpaths with not too many big technical features but there will likely be drainage bars and ditches to negotiate. If you are able to ride a Red graded trail this would be a good ride.

 

Level 2 ride:

 

Our level 2 rides are for fit riders with a reasonable technical riding ability. If you are out riding your bike 1-2 times a week and are descending reds confidently, this is a ride for you. The ride will be approximately 4-6 hours and will have more technical and natural sections and will have the odd more technical feature.

 

Level 3 ride:

 

Our level 3 rides are either very technical rides, ideal for people that are happy riding black trails or they are big days out on the bike that maybe 5-8 hours in length. They may include 2 or more Munro's or cover a great distance. The kind of big adventure we all want to aim for.

 

What type of bike do I need?

 

Hardtail or full suspension bikes will be suitable for all of our Munro by MTB courses. Full suspension trail bikes may make level 2 and 3 rides more enjoyable but are not necessary.

 

 

What spare kit should I be carrying?

 

All participants should be carrying as a minimum:

 

  • a waterproof jacket (maybe waterproof trousers on the worse days)
  • spare warm clothes (reasonable for the expected conditions and time of year)
  • spare pair of gloves and a hat
  • a personal first aid kit (plasters and painkillers etc.)
  • a survival bag or blizzard blanket
  • spare brake pads for their bike
  • 1 or 2 spare tubes for their bike (27.5" tubes will fit any wheel size if in doubt.)
  • enough food to keep them going for the days riding
